Come to Our Dance in September!

Friends of Gilpin County Community Center is hosting a dance/fundraiser at the Gilpin County Community Center in September. This was originally scheduled for May 11, 2024, but due to some unforeseen circumstances, we are changing the date to a still-to-be-announced night in September.

The theme will be “We’re Still Dancing!” and features music and dance from the Roaring 20s to the 2020s. It’ll be a family affair, complete with food and other refreshments.

As part of the festivities, we hope to have dance professionals demonstrate dances through the decades. There’ll be a costume contest and prizes for the best outfit from each decade. So, indulge (if you like) by wearing your best flapper, boot scooter, line dancer, Big Band, 60s, disco, or other outfits! Come celebrate the end of summer and the beginning of autumn with a fun dance!

Help Us Help the Community Center

This will be a public fundraiser to help our group support the Community Center. The Center has needs that aren’t always met, so we work to assist the team over there by making special purchases such as the bouncy obstacle course and sports equipment. We also sponsor activities such as Water Safety Day, Spooky Stroll, Buck for the Badge, Winter Arts Festival, and other fun events. If you’d like to see what we’ve done since our founding, please check out our Three-Year Report here.

We’ll also use some proceeds for our Heart of the Community Fund. This special pot of money is there to help Gilpinites who need a little financial help to gain access to the Center and its activities. Over the past two years, we’ve used those funds to help people afford to use the Center for exercise, to take classes, and participate in activities.
