Friends of the Gilpin County Community Center is now in its fifth year of providing support to programs and activities at the Center. We formed in 2020 to help reopen the Center after the pandemic shutdowns. Since then, we’ve participated in and sponsored dozens of activities and events. These range from fair and winter arts festival sponsorships to outreach activities such as Gilpin Astroday to support for Gilpinites who need a little help getting access to the Center. For us, 2025 marks a new year of support and a chance to branch out into additional new activities for the Center.
We are especially pleased to see the center’s expanded hours of operation (as you can see in the chart below). We all owe the Gilpin County Commissioners who voted for this expansion a huge debt of gratitude. They recognized the importance of the center and its place at the heart of the Gilpin Community. The Friends group was pleased to share data with the Commissioners and make recommendations as they deliberated over the new budget and we look forward to working with the current crop of commissioners in the coming year!
Look for more news from us as we forge new directions in 2025 and beyond! And, if you’d like to join our group, you’re more than welcome to be part of us!
Happy New Year everyone, and see you at the Center this year!
