Gilpin AstroDay

Interested in astronomy? Want to know “what’s up?” Come on over to Gilpin AstroDay, scheduled for August 22, 2025. We’re bringing back the great folks from CU Boulder’s Fiske Planetarium to give shows in the lounge at the Community Center using their special inflatable planetarium. There’ll also be talks in the Multi Purpose Room, and a chance to peek at the Sun through a specially built telescope!

Activities go from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. But, that’s not all! Later that night, there’s a special star talk over at Golden Gate Canyon State Park’s Reverend Ridge campground amphitheater, given by our president, Carolyn Collins Petersen. That begins at 8 p.m. and will be followed by stargazing at Panorama Point!

Everyone is welcome to attend both events and they’re completely free — courtesy of Friends of the Gilpin County Community Center and several very generous donors, including the Alan Green Memorial Foundation.
