Just a reminder that Friday the 22nd is Gilpin Astroday! We’re welcoming the folks from CU’s Fiske Planetarium, who are bringing up a portable planetarium dome and will be showing programs from 1 to 4 p.m. inside the Gilpin County Community Center. ALL are welcome to attend!
We’re also offering a series of public talks in the Multi-Purpose Room starting around 1:15. The first will be about “cosmic oddities”, followed by a talk about quasars — all for the general public! Then, if there’s time, we’ll take a trip to dwarf planet Pluto!
During this time, the Fiske folks will set up a solar telescope and if the weather’s good, you should be able to take a peek at the Sun in a safe and rewarding way!
Remember, everything starts around 1 p.m. and all ages are welcome to come explore the Universe with us!
One change to our plans: the star party at Golden Gate Canyon State Park is cancelled, due to the high chances of rainy, stormy weather tomorrow night. HOWEVER, the planetarium shows in the afternoon, as well as the talks are inside the community center. So, come on over and explore the stars with us!
Bring the kids, bring yourselves, and bring your cosmic curiosity!
